Visiting the Library
Get to know Lucy Scribner Library and all we have to offer floor-by-floor. From filtered water stations and printing on the first floor to the Writing Center and folio collection on the fourth floor, this guide covers it all!
Lucy Scribner Library of Skidmore College is committed to providing access to information for all members of the Skidmore community. Visit our Accessibility Guide to learn more about the variety of services, resources, and tools available to ensure access to our collections, resources, and services.
Visitors are welcome on our campus, and there are no requirements to register visitor’s vehicles that are parked during normal business hours. Several parking lots provide access to the building including Case, Zankel, and Palamountain.
For general parking rules and for information on long-term parking, visit Campus Safety’s Parking and Driving Policies page.
In order to minimize potential distractions and allergens for individuals who are working and studying in the library building, Scribner Library policy limits the presence of animals to the following circumstances:
- Service animals are allowed anywhere in the building. Such animals should be on leash and marked with some sort of official designation (vest, bib, or collar, etc).
- Emotional support animals may be brought on leash into the tiled lobby of the Library building—i.e., in front of the Circulation Desk—but should not be brought further into the building.
- Pets may be brought on leash into the tiled lobby of the Library building—i.e., in front of the Circulation Desk—but should not be brought further into the building.
Access to the Public
Although the primary mission of the Scribner Library is to support the teaching and learning needs of the Skidmore community, the Library is also open to the public. Guests are welcome to use our print materials on site and access the guest wireless network with their personal mobile devices.
If you need assistance finding information and accessing resources, librarians and other staff members are available at the Research Help and Circulation desks, both conveniently located on the first floor of the Library.
