Computers in the Scribner Library

computersMembers of the Skidmore community have access to both Macs and Windows PCs. The majority of these are located on the first floor, and a small computer lab is available on the fourth floor.

All computers require a valid Skidmore username and password for logging in, with the exception of the Library Catalog terminals, which are located, two per floor, on the south (entrance) side of the building. These stations are available for use by the general public to search the physical holdings of the Library.

Wireless Access

Wireless access is available throughout the building, and Skidmore users can connect to either "Skidmore Secure" or "Eduroam" on their mobile devices - your Skidmore login is required.

Guest access is available through the Skidmore Guest network - a valid email address is required.

Questions can be directed to the IT Help Desk at (518) 580-5900.

Off-Campus Access

Remote access to the Library's electronic resources is available 24/7 from anywhere with an internet connection. Skidmore users will be prompted to log in after selecting a resource.

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.

In order to log in to eduroam at a participating institution, use the format "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." and your Skidmore password.

Three networked, black-and-white printers are available on the first floor of the Scribner Library. Paper recycling bins are located next to each printer and throughout the Library.

Print jobs may be printed at any of four print-release stations in the library: printers labeled Printer 1 and Printer 2 are located closest to the Reference Desk, and Printer 3 is near the IT Help Desk. An additional printer is positioned on the fourth floor of the Library. Walk up to the print-release station of your choice, type in your Skidmore username, and click OK or hit Enter to see a list of your print jobs. Click Print. If you have any questions about printing, ask the Reference Librarian or the IT Help Desk.

Card/Coin Operated Copiers

Two black-and-white photocopiers are located on the first floor of the Scribner Library, one near the current periodicals section and one by the east elevator. The copier closest to the periodicals accepts coins (10 cents per page) and Skidmore cards, the other accepts Skidmore cards only. The Campus Card Office recommends students allocate $25 per semester for library photocopiers. If you experience difficulties with your Skidmore Card when using the Library’s copiers, ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk or contact the Bursar/Campus Card Office, Starbuck Center, Lower Level, M-F 8:30am to Noon & 1pm to 4:30pm, (518) 580-5854.
