On Saturday, May 5th, a memorial service was held at Skidmore for Phyllis A. Roth, who recently passed away from complications from pancreatic cancer. Roth wore many hats at Skidmore - including Dean of the Faculty and Acting President - and was a staunch supporter of the Scribner Library. When she returned to teaching full-time after stepping down from the Dean's office, she often worked closely with the Library’s Special Collections Department in her course work. Three of these classes produced exhibits using the collection’s rare books and ephemera. Most notable among these efforts were two library exhibitions that showcased a gift from alumnus Christopher Giancarlo ’81 and his wife Regina: a collection of vampire books and materials donated in Roth’s name.
