Where and When Can I Use It?

Circulating materials may be checked out and leave the library.

Non-circulating materials, such as the Reference Collection, may be used only in the library. Materials placed on Closed Reserve are located at the Circulation Desk and a valid Skidmore ID is required to use the materials. Materials may be borrowed for pre-determined periods of either three hours (in library use only), one day, or three days; and students are generally limited to one item at a time. Photocopies automatically circulate for three hours. There are no renewals on reserve material.

Materials placed on Open Reserve are available on the 1st floor of the Library, near the current periodicals section. Open reserve permits students to work with multiple items at one time and to browse materials for the course. Materials on open reserve may not leave the library unless the instructor has so specified. The time limit indicates if the item can go out of the building.
